This is the image for the news article titled "Manners Matter" for 6th grade GirlsFor the past several weeks, 6th grade girls have attended classes that emphasize good manners.  The lessons were led by community volunteers.  The class culminated in a formal luncheon so the girls could practice all that they had learned.

invitation  It all began with a properly worded invitation.  The term RSVP was defined and its importance emphasized.
setting The table was set, with the students being careful to put plates, glasses, and flatware in their correct positions.
centerpiece Students learned that a centerpiece and/or decorations are essential for a well dressed table.
serving The girls learned how to correctly serve seated guests.
bread  Bread is broken and buttered into individual, bite-sized pieces.
pie Likewise, desserts are enjoyed in small bites, but never before everyone at the table has finished their main course.
talk  Students learned that the BEST part of a meal, whether formal or informal, is the conversation that occurs between everyone seated around the table.

THANK YOU to the many volunteers that helped make this an extra special learning experience for our HMS 6th grade girls.

A new class will be forming soon.  Be looking for details!
